Aarya Babbar opens about his father Raj Babbar's affair with Smita Patil: "Baap itna bhi galat nahi......"

Actor-turned-comedian Aarya Babbar recently grabbed headlines with his stand-up comedy act, where he humorously delved into his family’s personal stories. His performance touched upon several aspects of his life, including his relationship with his father, veteran actor Raj Babbar, and his bond with his half-brother, Prateik Babbar. However, what caught everyone’s attention was Aarya’s revelation about not being invited to Prateik’s wedding.

During his set, Aarya spoke about how he was left out of Prateik Babbar’s wedding guest list and how his father reacted to this situation. He shared lighthearted yet honest anecdotes about his family’s involvement in the wedding, mentioning how his mother, Nadira Babbar, a Muslim, went the extra mile to learn Punjabi bolis for the occasion. His sister, Juhi Babbar, also played a significant role, making traditional laddoos for the celebration.

Aarya then shifted gears and humorously reflected on a more serious chapter from his past. He recalled how, as a child, he was often ambushed by the media, who questioned him about his father’s relationship with actress Smita Patil. Raj Babbar was already married to Nadira Babbar when he fell in love with Smita, and their relationship was widely discussed. The couple tied the knot and had Prateik, but Smita tragically passed away during childbirth. Raj later reconciled with Nadira, which led to a complex family dynamic.

As a young boy, Aarya struggled to understand these intricate relationships. He recounted how he used to hide from reporters who bombarded him with difficult questions about his father’s personal life. At that age, I was supposed to be playing hide and seek with my friends, but instead, I was playing it with journalists, he joked.

However, with time and experience, his perspective changed. Now, at 43 years old and married for nearly a decade, Aarya admitted that he finally understands the depth of his father’s relationship with Smita Patil. In a witty remark, he added, “Baap itna bhi galat nahi tha (My father wasn’t that wrong).”

Despite the complexities, Aarya expressed his deep love for Prateik, calling him the biggest blessing to come out of that chapter of his father’s life. He stated, “If there is anyone I love the most in my house, it’s my little brother.”
