In the next episode of Jeep Bollywood Trails, Zareen Khan takes us to the land of Kutch, where Bollywood’s iconic and Oscar nominated film Lagaan was shot under the hat of Director Ashutosh Gowariker and starred the most credible, Aamir Khan.
While it's been over a decade that the movie released, we all still fondly remember the highlights of the film which includes the nail biting cricket match, where the audience rooted for Bhuvan. And yet, there are a number of untold stories that went behind the making of the legendary movie and it maybe is never too late to discover these gems.
Just for starters, did you know the village of Champaner and the famous temple featured in the film were created just for the movie? Not only that, to build the setup, Aamir Khan charmed 26 farmers whose land was used for the construction of the sets. Interesting, Isn’t it?
Ashutosh Gowariker said, "Where the village of Champaner was built belonged to 26 farmers and Aamir Khan's charm worked once again in convincing them to give their land to construct the set there. The village of Champaner became the center for all the storytelling.
More real the village would seem, more real the story would look. Because somewhere the story has got a 'what if' feels to it. If everything around the story is not true, the premise of the story could fail. And hence, this village with all its habitant became the most important aspect of the film."
In the show Zareen Khan does not only take us through the story behind the building of Champaner, but also explores the heritage of Rann of Kutch, Vijay Vilas Place, Mandvi, showcases Rogan art work of Abdul Gafur Khatri and much more.
