10 years of Alia Bhatt: Films picked by the starlet which helped her evolve as a top actress

Alia Bhatt marks a decade in the industry today. The actress stepped in B-Town with Karan Johar's film Student Of The Year along with Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The word that could possibly come to mind when we reflect on this actress's 10-year career within the fraternity is 'remarkable'. Alia Bhatt's career as a movie star has predominantly been prosperous. Even the movies that didn't end up grossing a lot of money at the box office had strong openings, reinforcing the fact that she is admired by the wider populace. 

She has also been quite thoughtful with the choice of her scripts and have always tried to strike a balance in more nuanced and layered roles like that in Highway, Udta Punjab, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and at the same time play the girl-next door in commercial films like Humpty sharma Ki Dulhania, Kapoor & Sons and so on.

The Imtiaz Ali film introduced Alia Bhatt in a new light and gave new horizons to her career as an actor. Veera's character not only hit a chord with many people, but her on-screen emotions also had an impact in a unique way. Despite the fact that this movie did moderately well at the box office, Alia received glowing praise for her performance.

While this film had stellar actors like Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt shone as a Bihari migrant worker. From her Bihari accent to her body language, Alia aced this role only to add  upon her credibility and fine tone her craft.

Meghna Gulzar surely knows how to shape a character and Alia Bhatt, while playing Sehmat proved it right. Carrying a film on her shoulder, Alia Bhatt took Raazi to great lenghts and mainly showed how nuanced her craft had turned by then. 

Well, we dont need to talk much about this, beacuse the film spoke for itself. Be it giving one of her best performances till date to making it a box office hit, Alia Bhatt rose to prominence with this Sanjay Leela Bhansali project and only shut those who ever questioned upon her acting skills.
