Maaa Dhara kahan hai ???????............Dhruv asked as his eyes searched every nook and corner for his little girl.

It was a ritual for Dhruv to be welcomed by Dhara everyday after returning from hospital. Dhara without a miss would always bimble on her little feet in the courtyard awaiting her Papa's return. The minute Dhruv entered the house, she'd jump in air and Dhruv will catch her up, taking her in the safety of his arms. But where was his little girl today

Apne kamre mein baithi hai teri Rajkumari.......pata nahi kya hua usko aaj.....Khaana bhi nahi khaaya usne........retorted Sushila

Dhruv quickly filled up a plate of food for her and went upstairs to find out what was bothering his baby so much ?

As Dhruv reached the door of Dhara's room, he found his baby decked up in a cute pink frock, sitting on the floor, drawing something in her drawing book with her back facing him but something was amiss.

Dhara........he lovingly called out, making his way towards her.

Papa.....Dhara slowly whispered with a glint in her eyes. She inherited her pretty almond eyes from her dad but the usual shine of her orbs was missing.

Aapki tabiyat theek hai na bacche.......dadi ne bataya ki aapne khaana nahi khaya ? ........... asked the concerned Dad as he touched her forehead to check if she had fever.

Dhara looked at him and then again looked down.

At this point, Dhruv knew something was definitely wrong. Something is bothering his little baby and he'll have to do something to bring her smile back but first he will feed her food.

Dhruv took a morsel and approached Dhara to feed her. There was unspoken, unwritten connection between the father-daughter. Dhara, when upset wouldn't listen to anyone in the house but with her dad it was completely opposite. She ate the morsel and then took a morsel herself to feed her dad.

Her papa will feed his little Rajkumari and little Rajkumari will feed her papa.

After finishing their dinner, Dhruv made Dhara sit in front of him and asked her what was bothering her so much ?

He saw her pretty hazel brown orbs welling up with tears and in the next moment Dhara jumped in his lap, hugging him tightly as tears strolled down her rosy cheeks.

Kya hua bacche...... ?- Dhruv

Mujhe andhere se Darr lagta hai, Papa. Mujhe nahi sona yahan andhere mein...... - retorted Dhara still bonding onto her dad, her safe place with all her might.

Dhruv understood her fear. It was common for little children to fear darkness. He understood why Dhara was behaving the way she was. Her lack of sleep was making her moody and grumpy.

Sssshhh bacche aise rote nahi.....Papa hai na aapke paas.......aaj aapko Darr nahi lagega. Dhruv would always tell her a bed time story but today he needs to do something he different to pull the fear of darkness out of his little girl......he thought to himself.

Dhruv picked Dhara up and made her settle on her little bed, making her comfortable. He sat beside her on the bed and asked her to close her eyes.

Dhara still not ready to let her dad go, clutched her Papa's hand. Dhruv again reassured Dhara that's he's not going anywhere.

He asked her to close her eyes and Dhara obliged as he caressed her head lovingly.

He decided to not tell a bed time story instead he will sing something for her. Dhruv adjusted himself on her little bed, still caressing her head & started to sing -

Choti Choti Gaiya Chotay Chotay Gwaal

Chotoso Mero Madan Gopal

Aage Aage Gaiya Pichay Pichay Gwaal

Beech-May Mero Madan Gopal

Choti Choti Gaiya Chotay Chotay Gwaal

Chotoso Mero Madan Gopal

She is his Madan Gopal, a blessing for his Kanha ji to him........Dhruv thought to himself as he saw his little girl smiling to him.

Kaari Kaari Gaiya Goray Goray Gwaal

Shyam Baran Mero Madan Gopal

Choti Choti Gaiya Chotay Chotay Gwaal

Chotoso Mero Madan Gopal

Dhruv caressed her baby cheeks before pulling them lightly.....

Ghaasn Khaavay Gaiya Dhudh Peevay Gwaal

Maakhan Khaavay Mero Madan Gopal

Choti Choti Gaiya Chotay Chotay Gwaal

Chotoso Mero Madan Gopal

Choti Choti Lakuti Chotay Chotay Haath

Bansi Bajaaway Mero Madan Gopal

Choti Choti Gaiya Chotay Chotay Gwaal

Chotoso Mero Madan Gopal

Dhara was now in her deep slumber, her face reflected content as she smiled occasionally in her baby sleep. A lone tear escaped from the corner of Dhruv's eyes at the sight of his daughter sleeping peacefully in his warm embrace which was her safe place. He placed a kiss on her head and covered her with her pink duvet.
Dhruv got up from the bed and folded his hands to pray to his Kanha ji to always keep his little girl happy, safe and sound.
